FIRE, took place at the Deering estate on
April 22, 2017 as part of their annual Deering Spring Contemporary exhibit: “Platform 450" .
The installation created the illusion of a roaring forest fire using special lights, smoke machines
and speakers to emit the sound of burning wood and foliage.
This installation tackles one of our major current ecological issue: the destruction of forest caused
by fire - sometime intentional, other times as a result of droughts due to rapid climate change.
The installation hoped to bring awareness to the issue, perhaps with a renewed compassion for Nature and the impact on communities.
FIRE was made possible with the technical assistance of Romain Saillard (son) and
Timothy B.Stout (light).
