artist statement

We live in an age where small discs and mysterious wires deliver information to
our television sets. Many people sit and stare in innocent bliss as light emitted
from a box shapes their views about the world around them. I am captivated by
the commanding and enduring effects of images from Hollywood and the media.
Although cinema is only a caricature of our culture, it persists through the
generations and provides a window into the past. I am drawn to everything
from the nonsensical to the violent. I am concerned with transforming easily
understandable television images into puzzles. This is accomplished by freezing
video images and manipulating them. The manipulation process is a form of
censorship, deletion and addition. My images, in a sense, are the antonym
of cinematic images.significant for both its audacity and vision. To permanently
mold the body into anew form is both ludicrous and courageous
.
